Jacksonville, FL, January 6, 2020 – One man is dead and another is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting following an attempted traffic stop Sunday night in Northwest Jacksonville.   This is the first police-involved shooting of the new year.

WHAT:  Press conference organized by Council Member Ju’Coby Pittman, District 8 and State Representative Kimberly Daniels

Council Member Ju’Coby Pittman is taking a stand to address the rise in murders happening in northwest Jacksonville.   This was the first officer-involved shooting of 2020, and according to JSO records there were 11 police-involved shootings last year, the most recent one being the week before Christmas.

Duval County has the highest murder rate in the state, and the problem is only getting worse.  Council Member Ju’Coby Pittman is looking to implement an accountability strategy with both short-term and long-term results to help decrease the amount on crime in District 8 and throughout northwest Jacksonville.
