City Council Lunch & Learn Workshop - How to Offer/Prepare Amendments

Notice is hereby given that Honorable Lori N. Boyer will host a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Workshop with the Jacksonville City Council and Council Staff.   The meeting will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Lynwood Roberts Room – located at 117 West Duval Street, 1st Floor - City Hall, St. James Building, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.  

The purpose workshop is to provide an overview of how to offer/prepare an amendment in Committee, Council or other legislatively assigned venues.  Insight on how to prepare amendments in advance verses amendments that develop from committee discussion will be part of the presentation.  Also, how the Office of General Council can assist during meetings will be covered.  In addition, the “Blue Sheet” otherwise known as the “Substitute, Emergency, and Amendment Sheet” Does the review language reflects your intent?  Finally, floor amendments – what is a floor amendment, and what is the process for having a floor amendment drafted before or during a Committee or Council Meeting?  Margaret “Peggy” Sidman, Paige Johnston, and Susan Grandin Office of General Counsel or their designee(s) will serve as the presenters for this activity.
