November 6, 2019 – Councilman Diamond, joined by Mayor Curry, Representatives from the Northeast Florida Commissions and representatives from various veterans’ organizations, will host a signing ceremony for The Fire Watch. The Fire Watch is a coordinated effort between the City of Jacksonville and the counties of Baker, Clay, Nassau and St. John’s to end veteran suicide in our region. The City of Jacksonville will serve as the legal home of The Fire Watch and coordinate with the surrounding counties via inter-local agreements. Through a series of partnerships and collaborations between local, state, and federal agencies, private donors, media entities, and regional and national non-profits, The Fire Watch will coordinate an effort to organize existing resources to combat the veteran suicide epidemic locally.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 21, 2019 – More than 40 businesses and service providers are participating in this job fair for displaced employees of simulated gambling establishments. (Participants listed at end of press release.) The job fair is Thursday, October 24, 2019 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at Emmett Reed Community Center located at 1093 West 6th Street, Jacksonville, FL 32209. While this job fair is designed to assist those affected by the closing of these establishments, this job fair is open to the public.

Lindsey Brock, Chair of the Jacksonville Charter Revision Commission, announces that the Commission will hold a town hall meeting on Thursday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Jacksonville City Council Chamber (City Hall at St. James, 117 W. Duval Street, Jacksonville) for the purpose of taking input from the general public on suggested changes to the City Charter.  Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the event and to make suggestions regarding proposals to amend the Charter to improve the operation, transparency, and responsiveness of City government.

Notice is hereby given that the Jacksonville City Council will meet for the purpose of hosting the 2019- 2020 Installation of Council Leadership Ceremony scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019, Jacoby Hall - Auditorium - Times Union Center for Performing Arts located at 300 Water Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.  Immediately following the installation ceremony a reception will be held in the Uible located within the Times Union Center for Performing Arts Building.   
 
The event is being held for the 2019-2023 Installation of Members and Officers of the Jacksonville City Council, for Jerry Holland, Property Appraiser for 2019-2023, and for Jim Overton, Tax Collector for 2019-2023.  The Honorable Scott Wilson will be sworn in as President and The Honorable Tommy Hazouri will be sworn in as Vice President for the Jacksonville City Council.  In accordance with Council Rules the positions will become effective July 1, 2019.  (Invited attendees will include the Jacksonville City Council Members, Constitutional Officers, Judges, Duval Delegation, and Congressional Representatives, appointed Board and Commission members of the City of Jacksonville as well as the public at large.) 

Invitations are not required to attend this event and all interested parties are invited to attend.

The Jacksonville City Council meeting cycle will resume with Standing Committee meetings on Tuesday, July 16, 2018.
