Today I have filed the same Human Rights Ordinance that was voted on by the Jacksonville City Council in 2012 with one addition – a provision for a referendum by the voters on the issue. As a courtesy, I waited until after Mayor Curry’s final community conversation event on this topic before acting.

Today Jacksonville City Council Member Aaron Bowman, (District 3) announced his support for Governor Rick Scott’s proposed reforms for Enterprise Florida, including the creation of the Florida Enterprise Fund.
Council Member Bowman said “Job creation is extremely important for the State of Florida and I fully support the proposal to create the Florida Enterprise Fund and improve the economic development process at Enterprise Florida. Enterprise Florida has been integral to creating jobs in our community, with companies such as Vistakon, Macquarie, Anheuser Busch, Fidelity, Deutsche Bank, General Electric, and Safariland. These reforms will continue to diversify our local economy, empower our small businesses, and create even more great jobs.”
Pursuant to Ordinance 2015-592-E, the City Council meeting normally scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2015 has been rescheduled one day earlier to Monday, September 21, 2015, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber- City Hall St. James Building- located 117 West Duval Street- 1st Floor Jacksonville, Florida 32202. This is the meeting at which the fiscal year 2015-16 City budget, property tax levy, Capital Improvement Program, Banking Fund borrowing program, and other budget-related bills will be debated and adopted.
The Jacksonville City Council will meet on Thursday, June 25, 2015, 5:00 p.m., in Jacoby Hall, at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, to install the Honorable Gregory B. Anderson as the 2015-2016 Council President, the Honorable Lori N. Boyer as the 2015-2016 Council Vice President, the 2015-2019 Jacksonville City Council, and Jerry Holland, Property Appraiser for their upcoming terms.
