In accordance with Ordinance 2005-361-E, the first Committee week and City Council meeting during the month of July are suspended for a summer break. The Jacksonville City Council meeting cycle will resume with Standing Committee meetings the week of July 14, followed by the City Council meeting on July 22, 2014.
The Federal Highway Administration has awarded the St. Johns River Ferry a $900,000 grant from the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP). The grant will be distributed to the ferry in two $450,000 annual payments beginning this fiscal year.
In August, the Jacksonville City Council passed Resolution 2013-551-A, creating the Task Force on Consolidated Government to undertake an in depth review of the history, formation and operation of the consolidated government of Jacksonville. The Task Force, Chaired by Council Member Lori Boyer, is now seeking input from the public with the hope of hearing directly from residents on the effects of consolidation.
The Jacksonville City Council is seeking nominations for the 2013 “Robert O. Johnson Good Government Award”. The award was established by the Jacksonville City Council in 2003 in honor of former City Council Auditor Robert O. Johnson. Each year, the award is bestowed upon an employee who has demonstrated a sustained and significant contribution to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of the City of Jacksonville or its Independent Agencies.
In accordance with Ordinance 2005-361-E, the second Committee week and City Council meeting of the month of December are suspended, due to the Holiday Season. The Jacksonville City Council meeting cycle will resume with Standing Committee meetings on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
