MEDIA RELEASE Council Member Al Ferraro to hold meeting to discuss panhandling issues

April 27, 2022
Jacksonville City Council Member Al Ferraro will be holding a meeting on Monday, May 2nd to discuss panhandling-related issues. Council Member Ferraro said the meeting is being called because “I am concerned that law abiding citizens are being harassed by panhandlers to the degree that is becoming a public safety issue. I am especially concerned that panhandlers themselves and sometimes children under their direction are approaching cars stopped at traffic lights to ask drivers for money, which is both a public nuisance and a very dangerous practice.”

Representatives of the Sheriff’s Office and Office of General Counsel will be in attendance to assist in the discussion, and interested members of the general public are welcome to attend.
