Council President Joost Announces City Council Appointees to Police and Fire Pension Fund Board

June 01, 2012

City Council President Stephen Joost (At-Large, Group 3) today announced the nomination of three new members to serve on the Police and Fire Pension Fund board of trustees.

Walt Bussells – Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Green Pointe Holdings and CEO of GreenPointe Pathways.  Mr. Bussells was formerly CEO of JEA, served on the JEDC board, and was Chairman of United Way of Northeast Florida, YMCA of Northeast Florida, and many other civic organizations.

Dr. Adam Herbert – Executive Director of Jacksonville ENT Surgery.  Dr. Herbert was formerly President of the University of North Florida and Indiana University and was Chancellor of the State University System of Florida.  He previously served on the Cecil Field Development Commission, the Charter Revision Commission and the Jacksonville Journey Steering Committee.

Randall (Randi) Shoemaker-Crump – Senior Vice President of Fidelity National Title Group.  Ms. Shoemaker-Crump was formerly Vice President and Senior Corporate Counsel for Regency Centers Corporation.  She has served on the City’s Public Investment Policy Review Committee and is currently completing a term on the JEDC board.

The three new members of the board of trustees are being appointed to complete the requirements of pending Ordinance 2012-203 which will change the membership of the 5-member board of trustees of the Police and Fire Pension Fund by eliminating the position formerly selected by the other four sitting members of the board and replacing it with a third position appointed by the City Council (increasing from 2 to 3 City Council appointments).  The bill provides for the replacement of current trustees Barbara Jaffe and Peter Sleiman (City Council appointees) and Nathaniel Glover (elected by the other trustees), whose terms expire in 2014.  The other two members of the board are a police officer and a firefighter elected by their fellow officers.
