Council President Michael Corrigan Expresses Support for Council Member Hyde's Newly Announced Leadership Position

December 18, 2006

This afternoon, Governor-Elect Charlie Crist announced that he has nominated Council Member Kevin Hyde to serve as his Secretary of the Department of Management Services. In addition to serving on City Council as an At-Large Council Member and as past Council President, Council Member Hyde is an employment lawyer with the Foley and Lardner law firm.

As Council President of the City of Jacksonville, I express our support for his newly announced position. Council President Corrigan stated, 'We have experienced first hand Council Member Hyde's exceptional leadership and dedication to public service, and we regret the loss of his partnership and participation as a City Council Member. He has done an excellent job throughout his term and served the City of Jacksonville with distinction.'

I am confident and congratulate Council Member Hyde as he begins his new position on Governor-Elect Crist's leadership team. The Council wishes him great success in Tallahassee.
