City Council President Richard Clark (District 3) announced today the formation of a committee to review the nominations for the 2010 'Robert O. Johnson Good Government Award'. The award was established by the Jacksonville City Council in 2003 in honor of former City Council Auditor Robert O. Johnson. Each year, the award is bestowed upon an employee who has demonstrated a sustained and significant contribution to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of the City of Jacksonville or its Independent Agencies.

Council Members Art Graham and Warren Jones have introduced a Resolution to honor and recognize Captain Clarence Hill as the newly elected National Commander of the American Legion. Captain Clarence Hill is a 24-year United States Navy veteran, a 27-year Legionnaire and a 3-time commander of American Legion Post 316 in Atlantic Beach.

Jacksonville City Council President Richard Clark (District 3) today announced the creation of an electronic suggestion box through which interested citizens can provide ideas and make suggestions to the City Council regarding cost saving ideas for the FY2010 budget now under consideration by the Council's Finance Committee. By e-mailing to BudgetSuggestions@coj.net, citizens can make recommendations for spending priorities and suggest particular cost saving ideas for consideration by the Finance Committee.

2008-09 Jacksonville City Council President Ronnie Fussell (At-Large, Group 1) turned over the Council leadership to his successor, Council Member Richard Clark (District 3) in a mid-day ceremony in the City Council Chamber on Wednesday, June 24th and in his final action as President, presented two annual awards and created a new award that he hopes will also become an annual tradition.
