As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to deliver uncertainties and profoundly impact every citizen's life here in our city, including the lives of our firefighters, the JFRD remains engaged in...and exposed to...a multitude of routine and familiar activities: such as an urgent request to help combat a wildfire. The aforementioned, a 2,000-odd acre blaze in the Florida panhandle, more specifically in Santa Rosa county, quickly resulted in the dispatch of a JFRD Strike Team on the 6th of May to assist in the suppression activities for this five mile swamp fire. Comprised of five engines and one chief, the team is expected to remain on scene for an, as yet, unknown timeframe and provide much welcomed expertise and skilled labor to the variety of assembled agencies.
