Hurricane Sally, a category 2 storm that struck the Panhandle region the week beginning 14 September, served as the catalyst that brought out our local Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR) to offer much needed, and certainly much appreciated, professional help to those unfortunate communities impacted by the storm's torrential, near biblical downpours: in some areas a reported 30 inches of rain! Departing for those devastated areas from Jacksonville were over 40 JFRD members who all volunteered for the assignment, with the latter expected to be a mission encompassing approximately two weeks. Good luck to all, stay safe and never forget how proud we all are of both you and your service!
