Jacksonville National Cemetery will be celebrating Memorial Day on Saturday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. This event will honor all Americans who died while defending the nation and its values. The Veterans Council of Duval County will meet Tuesday, May 21, 2019. The meeting will be held at American Legion Post 137 at 7:00 P.M.

The National Association of Veterans & Families will host its 5th Annual Champion for Veterans Gala on Friday, May 17th at 6:00 PM. The event will honor those who have a passion for Veterans at the River Club.

Mayport Second Class Petty Officers’ Association are hosting the USS STARK [FFG 31] Memorial Service at Memorial Park, Naval Station Mayport. Attendees without a DoD identification must RSVP to enable entrance. RSVP with full name and last four digits of attendee’s SSN.

This event is open to Active Duty, Retirees, Reservists, National Guard, Veterans, Department of Defense personnel, and dependents. Please note that dependent children are not authorized to purchase wristbands. Please get your wristbands now, they will not be sold at the venue. Wristbands are available for purchase at the NAS Jax, Mayport USO offices and Kings Bay ITT office. Admission includes zoo admission, unlimited train rides, and the land of the tiger exhibits. The tickets are $5.00 per person and kids under 2 are free.

Join the Home Builders Institute on its first quarterly resource day for transitioning military servicemembers, veterans and dependent spouses on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

This free event has been specifically developed for all veterans and transitioning servicemembers to meet with local organizations offering resources and services available within the community. This day will include resources and information on benefits, counseling, education, employment and job training, legal and financial services, small business startup, and much more. Each organization will have the opportunity to talk about what they have to offer and connect with our current and past students. Also, please feel free to invite military members whom are looking to receive more information. To take part in this event, please email Greg Howze or Sharleen Castro. 

The City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department, in coordination with Three Rivers Legal Services, Inc. (TRLS) and Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps, will host its free monthly legal consultation for veterans and their families.
 
Three Rivers Legal Services provides assistance with family Law (limited), social security/SSI, discharge review assistance, VA pensions, guardianship for disabled, unfair collections, last will and testament, and various other civil legal services.

The City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department and Three Rivers Legal Services are dedicated to helping veterans and their families with their legal needs. If you would like to be considered for further assistance, applications for representation will be available.
