Environmental Protection Board
About the Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board (Meeting Information)
The Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board (JEPB) consists of nine members, appointed for four-year terms, who are chosen to represent industry, conservationist organizations, professional engineers, the medical profession, and the general public. This board develops regulations necessary for administration and enforcement of the city's environmental laws. It conducts investigations of complaints, takes testimony in matters under its jurisdiction and provides a hearing platform for environmental matters within the city. The EPB also conducts public outreach programs for schools, teachers, civic and private organizations.
Regular board meetings are normally held on the third Monday of the month at 5 p.m.
In general, some of the routine assessment of operations and enforcement actions are carried out in standing committees of the board which also meet monthly.
- The Water Committee meets on Monday during the fourth week of the month at 4:30 p.m.
- The Air and Odor Committee meets immediately following the Water Committee, but no earlier than 5:00 pm.
- The Education and Public Outreach Committee meets immediately following the Air Committee, but no earlier than 5:30 pm.
NOTE: Effective January 2019, all JEPB Committees will meet on an as needed basis. Look for updates and changes on the calendar and meetings pages.
