Cecil Commerce Parkway Opens

October 06, 2009

Cecil Commerce Parkway, the first segment of the new, regional I-495 outer beltway, opened October 1, 2009. The new section links Interstate 10 to 103rd St., near Chaffee Rd.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) completed the $62 million project after nearly three years of construction.

The roadway will eventually be a portion of the First Coast Outer Beltway, a 46.5-mile road that will connect I-10 in Duval County to Interstate 95 in St. Johns County.

The new interchange will greatly enhance access and transportation entry to Cecil Commerce Center and Cecil Field, encouraging economic development and growth on Jacksonville's Westside. The roadway is expected to accommodate more than 33,000 vehicles per day.
