I-95 Overland Bridge Replacement Project

January 27, 2011

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proceeding with plans to replace the Overland Bridge on I-95 near Downtown Jacksonville. The Overland Bridge carries northbound and southbound traffic on I-95 and spans Hendricks Avenue, Kings Avenue, and Montana Avenue. It is being replaced due to structural deterioration. The project will be approximately 2.3 miles in length, beginning 1,200 feet south of San Diego Road (near Douglas Anderson School of Arts) and ending 200 feet north of Palm Avenue (near the Fuller Warren Bridge), and will take approximately five years to complete.

FDOT is seeking public input on the project and will hold a public hearing on January 27, 2011, at 841 Prudential Drive (the Aetna Building) at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. to allow time to review and discuss the exhibits with FDOT staff. Project material is available for review at the San Marco Library, 1513 LaSalle St., and the FDOT's Urban Office, 2198 Edison Ave.
