Mayor Lenny Curry and EY announced this morning Ernst & Young LLP will open a client service delivery center in Jacksonville that will create 450 highly-skilled jobs over the next four years. The center will further enhance EY’s ability to help clients streamline and improve business operations and manage risk in order to achieve cost savings and maintain their competitive advantage. The project was approved unanimously last month by City Council.

Governor Rick Scott and Mayor Lenny Curry joined Macquarie Group to celebrate the opening of their global financial services center in Jacksonville that will create more than 120 new jobs over the next two years. The company chose Florida to locate their global financial services center over nearly 20 other locations in the US and around the world. Macquarie first announced its expansion in Florida in July 2015 and has already added 65 employees.

Mayor Lenny Curry joined Governor Rick Scott at Kaman Aircraft Corporation in Jacksonville to highlight the company’s recent expansion. Kaman has created 165 new jobs since 2011, with plans to ultimately create 200 new jobs for local families. Kaman is a global aerospace and industrial manufacturer and distributor, with 430 employees in Jacksonville and more than 700 employees across Florida. The expansion of their operation also created a capital investment of more than $30 million in Duval County.

In a joint news conference today, Mayor Lenny Curry, City Council President Greg Anderson, and JAXUSA Partnership and Fidelity Investments® officials announced that the company plans to add 300 jobs over the coming three years as part of an expansion of its Customer Contact Center in Jacksonville, pending approval of state and local incentives.

Move Will Create 123 Local Financial Services Jobs

International financial services company Macquarie Group will open an office in Downtown Jacksonville, creating 123 highly skilled jobs over the next two years.

The Jacksonville City Council unanimously approved the project on Tuesday as Project Post, and Macquarie officials announced today they selected Jacksonville as the home for these jobs, which have an average annual wage of more than $64,000.

Proposed Project Would Create 100 New Jobs

Legislation being filed today by Mayor Alvin Brown could lead to a facility expansion for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. (JJVC) at its worldwide headquarters in Jacksonville. This extremely competitive opportunity would continue Jacksonville’s momentum as the go-to city for advanced manufacturing.

If the legislation is approved by City Council, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, also known locally as VISTAKON®, would add an additional 100 high-wage employees to its local workforce and invest $300 million into its Jacksonville contact lens manufacturing facility.

Report Finds Regional Companies That Export Grow Dramatically Faster

Today, the Jacksonville/Northeast Florida Metropolitan Region released an export market assessment, a critical step in the development of a regional export strategy. This strategy is part of JAX/Northeast Florida’s participation in the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Mayor Alvin Brown formed the Metro Jacksonville Global Cities team in 2013 after Jacksonville was selected as one of eight metro areas to join the new export exchange network.  The market assessment evaluates the region’s current export economy and its potential for growth.

Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Fortune 500 health care company Centene Corporation, is considering expanding its presence in Jacksonville.

Sunshine Health, located on Jacksonville’s Southside, currently employs 107 people in Jacksonville and is working with city leaders on growing its local offices. A proposal to be filed with the Jacksonville City Council would add 125 new employees and invest $900,000 into the local economy. The expansion is contingent on City Council approval.
