Do You GeoCache? Calling all modern day treasure hunters...the 2019 Jacksonville GeoCache Challenge has begun! This is an on-going event until all of the Geocoins have been claimed, so there’s still time.

The Challenge

Welcome to the 2019 Jacksonville Geocache Challenge! JaxParks has teamed up again with the Friends of JaxParks Geocachers, Visit Jacksonville and REI to present another amazing Challenge that will take you to parks and landmarks all over Jacksonville. In this high-tech treasure hunt, participants will have the opportunity to earn a newly designed "Geocoin" by finding 25 of the 30 hidden caches.

How It Works

Thirty containers, or caches, were hidden in parks and public spaces throughout the city for up to 150 Geocachers to find. The challenge is on as long as there are 2019 Jacksonville Geocoins available at REI, 4862 Big Island Drive. Participants will use a global positions system (GPS) device to locate the caches. The GPS coordinates for the Challenge caches were first made available at the kickcoff event. You can visit www.geocaching.com to get the GPS coordinates that were published on September 22, 2019.

The official brochure, verification passport and additional details and rules for this year's Challenge can be found at our partner's website: https://jaxparkschallenge.wordpress.com/.

The Coin

To obtain your trackable coin, take a completed passport to REI in Jacksonville. The first 150 participants to check in with a unique geocaching name will receive a coin.  REI Retailers, is located at 4862 Big Island Drive in Jacksonville's Town Center.
