About Garden City Park

Garden City Park is located in northwest Jacksonville near the intersection of Lem Turner Road and Dunn Avenue. Lemuel Turner (1831-1912) operated a ferry across the Trout River and opened a road called the Turner Ferry Road, now known as Lem Turner Road. The first official post office in Garden City was built on a portion of the property before it became a park. In 1936, the Garden City Community Club deeded the park site to Duval County, and soon a Community Center was built there that became one of Garden City’s most enduring landmarks, until its demolition in 2002. By 1975, along with other amenities, the park contained two tennis courts (now demolished). In response to increased residential growth, the City completed a major renovation of the park in December 2003. Additional features:
