Logistics is big business in Jacksonville. And it keeps getting bigger.
Recently, I joined Senator Marco Rubio, Congressman John Rutherford, and State Senator Aaron Bean to highlight a local company that recently announced a big expansion. Magellan Transport Logistics is planning to hire at least 100 new employees over the next five years and expand its operations into a new 47,000 square foot warehouse. Magellan is the nation's largest service disabled veteran owned small business logistics solutions provider, with a strong focus on hiring transitioning military service men and women. Jacksonville is the perfect location for a company like Magellan. With the on-the-job experience of our large military population, and institutions like the University of North Florida offering logistics degrees, we have a well-trained and growing workforce. Florida is the third most populous state in the nation, and Jacksonville is the state’s most populous city. And with two major interstates, I-95 and I-10, companies can reach 60 million consumers within a one-day truck drive. Thanks to Senator Rubio and Congressman Rutherford for putting a spotlight on this amazing Jacksonville success story and for being such strong champions for northeast Florida.
