Surprising Tomorrow's Leaders

Earlier this week, I popped in for surprise visits three local schools to announce the winners of the Tomorrow's Leaders essay contest. The winners will read their essays on stage at the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Jan. 17, 2020. 
Mayor Curry surprises Ben Chau at Central Riverside Elementary
The Tomorrow's Leaders awards recognize elementary, middle and high school students in our community who exemplify the philosophies of Dr. king through leadership, community volunteerism and civic responsibility. This year's winners were chosen from nearly 100 entries. 

This year's winners:
  • Ben Chau, 5th grade, Central Riverside Elementary
  • Niveah Glover, 8th grade, LaVilla School of the Arts
  • Taiwo Sogbesan, 12th grade, The Bolles School
