Friday brought good news to youth-serving organizations throughout Jacksonville.

That morning, I invited tournament volunteers and staff to City Hall to recognize them for raising more than $100 million for charitable giving in our community, proclaiming Friday, June 13, as “THE PLAYERS Championship Charity Day” in Jacksonville.

Since 1977, THE PLAYERS has played an important role in Northeast Florida, well beyond the annual golf tournament. My personal experience with them goes back to when they were an accounting client of mine in the 1990’s. Even then, they were committed to giving back to the First Coast community.

Every year they continue this tradition of giving back through local nonprofits, funding important programs that support youth, military and veterans, affordable housing, and more.

We are lucky to have THE PLAYERS here on the First Coast, and I look forward to their continued contributions to our community.
