As mayor, I am privileged to lead an amazing team of City employees that are dedicated to improving our community. Recently, I joined a crew from our Right of Way & Storm water Maintenance Division to repair sidewalks in a Northwest Jacksonville neighborhood.
The hardworking men on this team are in our communities every day--even in the Florida heat--making our roadways safer and more accessible for pedestrians. I can tell you from personal experience, it's hard and physical work. I am thankful for their efforts and contributions to our community.
In this year's budget that started on Oct. 1, I've allocated $14 million for sidewalk construction and maintenance. These are needed investments neighborhoods throughout Jacksonville that enhance safety for all citizens, and improve accessibility for our disability community.
