Christopher M. Garrett is the current Chief of the General Litigation Department.  He is a Florida Bar Board Certified City, County & Local Government Lawyer, and an AV Preeminent® Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rated™ attorney. Mr. Garrett is an experienced litigator, handling prosecution and defense of complex commercial litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation, eminent domain, tort claims and constitutional claims in state and federal courts on behalf of the City of Jacksonville and its boards, commissions, agencies, and independent agencies. 
 
Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel in 2013, Mr. Garrett worked at Akerman Senterfitt in its Consumer Finance Litigation & Compliance Practice Group.  Mr. Garrett also previously worked at Rogers Towers, PA in its Business Litigation Practice Group.
 
Mr. Garrett received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with honors, from the University of Florida in 2001.  He then graduated cum laude from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, with a Juris Doctor degree.  While in law school, Mr. Garrett served as the Articles Editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy and as a Legal Research & Writing and Appellate Advocacy Teaching Assistant.
 
He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Jacksonville Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.    He previously served as a Board Member for the Red Shoe Crew at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville, and was a long-time volunteer at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida -- Camp Healing Powers.
