Charge to the Transition Leadership Team
Mayor-Elect Curry’s first pledge to the people of Jacksonville is to conduct a comprehensive audit of city finances. The budget (ordinance 2015-400) for funding this audit was introduced to the full City Council on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, and funding is anticipated to be in place for work to begin in the next few weeks. This ordinance allows for the hiring of accounting firm Ernst and Young LLP and authorizes the mayor to sign a contract for a 90-day audit of the city.
Mayor-Elect Curry is also committed to working with the community, partners and law enforcement to fight crime. In the first step toward that goal, the Transition Leadership Team has begun the work of re-establishing the Jacksonville Journey and its programs that have proven effective in preventing and reducing crime.
Additionally, Mayor-Elect Curry has pledged a full and comprehensive review of the city’s structure, finances and delivery of services. To fulfill that pledge, the Transition Leadership Team is forming a series of committees charged with identifying opportunities to improve or enhance processes and optimize every dollar the city expends.
