When school is out, summer fun is in! – Monday is the first day of JaxParks’ annual Rec-n-Roll summer program, an initiative that provides free, supervised, recreational and engaging activities for Jacksonville youth throughout the season to minimize the opportunity for violence and crime. Children ages 6 - 17 are invited to enjoy games, activities, sports and more in a safe place throughout weekdays through July 30. Programs are from 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. No registration required. In partnership with the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, Mayor Lenny Curry announced today the winning public art project for the Duval County Courthouse lawn, by unanimous vote and perfect score, is Cliff Garten Studio of Venice, CA. Mr. Garten will construct and reveal his project during our city’s bicentennial year and for the 10th anniversary of the Courthouse building.
