In observance of Presidents Day, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed Monday, February 21.

On Tuesday, Mayor Curry announced curbside recycling collection will resume throughout the City of Jacksonville on Monday, April 4, 2022. Since October 4, when curbside recycling was temporarily halted, there’s been progress in all remaining forms of collections.  

This FREE Family-Friendly Festival will celebrate Black History Month in a unique and authentic way.

Through events like this, UNCF and its member institutions like Edward Waters University empowers more students of color get to and through college.
 

A citizen-led group is working to bring awareness about the impact of violent crime, trauma and mental health within our community. The Jacksonville City Council Safety and Crime Reduction Commission (SCRC) will launch a campaign to connect residents with available resources and services. The goals are to break the cycle of generational trauma and end the stigma of mental health. It’s important for everyone to know that mental health care is just as important as physical well-being. Commissioners will host a news conference on Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Oakland, 1025 Jessie St., to share their upcoming community plan.

The City of Jacksonville drew an incredible amount of attention from investors yesterday with a debt refinancing that will save citizens more than $31 million over the next ten years.  The transaction, led by Bank of America Securities, saw over $1.1 billion of orders from 20 investors versus only $121 million of bonds available for sale.

Kids Hope Alliance along with the City of Jacksonville was awarded $1,000,000 by the Florida Department of Education (DOE) to support local teens to increase Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills in the Northwest community on Moncrief Road.
