City of Jacksonville Public Service Announcement Wins Two Coveted National Awards

May 28, 2020
The City of Jacksonville and local media group MadMen Marketing have been recognized by The Telly Awards with two silver-level awards for the “Put the Cellphone Down” public service announcement (PSA), a component of the “All in Duval” road safety campaign.

"We started the “All In Duval” campaign to better educate Jacksonville citizens about safe practices for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians," said Mayor Lenny Curry. "Our Public Affairs Office and MadMen Marketing have done an amazing job getting the message out, reaching and captivating thousands of homes, and saved countless lives in the process."

Along with a message from Mayor Lenny Curry imploring motorists to remain alert while driving, the 30-second video shows the upsetting moments following a car accident involving a child and a distracted driver. The PSA was used to bolster the All in Duval campaign, which was launched in July 2018 to encourage shared responsibility among, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. MadMenMarketing helped execute and place the PSA throughout local media channels.

“I could not be more proud of our great production team and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the City of Jacksonville and Director of Public Affairs, Nikki Kimbleton, on this project. I hope at the end of the day we created an impactful campaign that ultimately saved lives,” said J.D. Blair, President, MadMen Marketing.

The “All In Duval” campaign includes a website with safety information, an education program for kids, the distribution of safety gear and more. With the use of social media, TV, the Internet and in-person interactions, the campaign has reached more than 250,000 residents.

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 to honor excellence in local, regional and cable television commercials. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work created for television, social media and other visual outlets. Receiving over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world.
