Duval County Residents Invited to Participate In America Recycles Day Event with Free Shredding Services

The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful will offer free shredding services to Duval County residents at the 10th annual America Recycles Day event. In addition to recyclables and materials to be shredded, residents are encouraged to bring items for donation, including gently-used shoes, blankets and coats, towels, trial-size products, pet food (unopened), eyeglasses, office and school supplies, and arts and crafts supplies. Friday, Nov. 15
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Bank of America location)
12 - 5 p.m. (Prime Osborn location)

*Please note that shred activities will end at 4 p.m., but all other items will be collected until 5 p.m.

GENERAL INFO:

This drop-off event is only for Duval County residents. Commercial/business recyclables will not be accepted. Other than cell phones and chargers, no electronic waste will be accepted. Absolutely no liquids or household hazardous waste will be accepted. Residents may take those items to the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2675 Commonwealth Ave. For more information or to arrange for special handling of unusual material, call (904) 387-8847.
 
All materials listed below will be collected at America Recycles Day event:  

  • Recyclables - Cardboard, packing paper, junk mail, chipboard, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, magazines, catalogs, cartons, newspaper

  • Shredding materials - Invoices, credit card statements, canceled checks, bank statements, tax records or related information (outside of retention dates), computer paper, white office paper, copy paper, colored office paper, envelopes

  • Reusable materials - Cell phones, iPods, prescription glasses, gently worn or new shoes, gently worn sweaters

  • Teacher Supplies - Three-ring binders, calculators, file folders, hanging files, pencils, pens, glue, paste, hole punches, in/out trays, envelopes
