Historic Preservation Awards Call for Nominations

The Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission is requesting nominations for its annual awards ceremony to take place Thursday, May 12, at the Jacksonville Main Library Auditorium (303 Laura Street N. - 32202). This annual event recognizes outstanding projects and services that promote historic preservation in the Jacksonville area.
Nomination forms with information on eligibility, judging and nominating procedures are available through the Planning and Development Department or at www.coj.net/PreservationAwards.
 
Award categories include:
  • Heritage Education/Publication/Film
  • Archaeological/ Historic Landscape
  • Residential Rehabilitation
  • Commercial or Institutional Rehabilitation
  • Architecturally Compatible New Construction
  • Preservation Projects and Services by individuals or organizations
  • Great Save (honoring projects that save a historic building from destruction)
  • Overall Preservation Award (organization)
  • The Jerry Spinks Award for Lifetime Preservation Service (individuals)
 
The last category was added this year in honor of past Historic Preservation Commission Chair and member Jerry Spinks, for his lifetime of preservation service to Jacksonville.
