SCRC Community Buss tour and walk and talk for mental health flyer

Safety and Crime Reduction Commission Going Door-to-Door to Discuss Mental Health Care

March 16, 2022

Another opportunity to connect residents with resources and services to help end the stigma surrounding mental health care. The Jacksonville City Council Safety and Crime Reduction Commission (SCRC), a citizen-led group, will host its next Community Bus Tour, in partnership with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), on March 26 from noon – 2 p.m.

Commissioners, mental health experts and other community leaders will meet in front of River Region Human Services, Inc. (3101 Justina Rd.). They will then go door-to-door to talk with residents and share information about mental health care and ways to end generational trauma.

“We see and hear about crime all around town. We want it to end. We also know that some people are hurting and need a helping hand. We want residents to know there are places where they can get help and people who are there to provide the necessary care,” said Dr. Constance Hall, SCRC chair.

During the Community Bus Tour, resources will also be available on-site near the JTA bus. Experts will talk with parents, children and community members about the importance of mental health care to cope with the impact of violence, stress and trauma.
