Mayor Alvin Brown invites the public to attend the City of Jacksonville’s annual Memorial Day Observance, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. The ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial Wall on Monday, May 26, at 9 a.m.
The observance will feature remarks by Mayor Alvin Brown, Rep. Ander Crenshaw, Rep. Corrine Brown and Admiral Jonathan Howe, U.S. Navy (ret.), followed by the presentation of memorial wreaths. The names of four fallen service members are being added to the Veterans Memorial Wall this year. The Navy Band Southeast and the Edward Waters Chorus will perform, and a flyover by a Vietnam-era jet will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War.

The Memorial Day Observance is free and open to the public. Patriotic attire is suggested and parking is free. For more information about the Military Affairs & Veterans Department and other Memorial Day events please call (904) 630-3680 or visit www.coj.net/MilitaryAffairs.
