Mayor Lenny Curry will share in a celebration highlighting the official launch of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department’s newest rescue units. These units provide greater support to citizens and communities throughout various areas of the city.

Continuing his commitment to improving public safety, Mayor Curry allocated funds in the FY 2018/2019 City budget to increase the number of rescue units serving Jacksonville. To serve residents on the City’s Southside, Northside and Westside communities, units R17, R37, R44 and R61 will assist with nearly 1,000 monthly calls, decrease response times and maintain 24-hour advance life support transport capability. With these additional units, the administration is nearing its goal of assigning one rescue unit to each fire station in the city, which will mark the largest expansion in the department’s history.
