Right Whale Festival Beach Cleanup

November 23, 2013 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Sea Walk Pavilion
Jacksonville Beach
The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful will host the 5th annual beach cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. as part of the Right Whale Festival in Jacksonville Beach.
Volunteer check-in will be at the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful cleanup check-in tent at the Sea Walk Pavilion. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. Community service certifications will be available for participants.

The festival is organized by KJB partners Sea to Shore Alliance and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and celebrates the North Atlantic right whale’s annual return to their only known calving area in the southeastern United States. With as few as 450 right whales remaining, protecting this highly endangered species and their offspring is essential to bringing them back from the brink of extinction.

The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature daylong family-oriented activities including arts and crafts, live music food, hands-on kids’ activities, educational speakers, a 5K beach run and 2.5 K beach walk, a bounce house, a silent auction and dozens of educational booths, including that of Keep Jacksonville Beautiful.
