Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) will open its doors to the public in an after-hours event to support the new photography book “Better Together” produced by the Friends of Jacksonville Animals (FOJA). The group is one of the vital nonprofit agencies that provides crucial animal support and services, such as heartworm treatment for dogs, on behalf of ACPS.

Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is partnering with the Sea to Shore Alliance, Keepers of the Coast and other organizations to host a beach cleanup at the 4th annual Right Whale Festival, a celebration for the critically endangered North Atlantic right whales' annual return to the Southeast coast of the United States. The warm waters off the coasts of Northeast Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are the only known right whale calving areas in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Tony Hill, federal policy director for the City of Jacksonville, and Dr. Folakemi Odedina, associate director of health disparities for the UF Shands Cancer Center, will host a forum to release and discuss the Florida Black Men’s Health Community Report, which provides a snap-shot overview of black men’s health in several Florida cities. The forum will introduce the report’s major findings and present a special screening of the WORD on Prostate Cancer educational video.
