"Read It Forward Jax" is a reading initiative aimed at raising the literacy rate for students throughout Duval County.   The project involves partnerships between the Duval County School Board, the City of Jacksonville and business and community leaders to help teach Jacksonville's children about the importance of reading.

Five finalists, chosen by a selection committee through "blind" judging, will compete for the honor of this award, a cash prize and the chance to perform during the 2011 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.
