Ten local women who have made outstanding contributions to the Jacksonville community were selected by the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women for recognition as 2014 Women’s History Month honorees. These women epitomize this year’s theme, Standing Strong, Standing Together: Jacksonville Women Working to Create a Stronger Community!

The 2014 Military Veterans Job and Resource Fair will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on Monday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair is hosted by Mayor Alvin Brown, the City of Jacksonville, the Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services Department (MAVDS), and the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition (JMVC).

Arlington Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

This weekend the City of Jacksonville and Get Covered America, along with Planned Parenthood, the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, Sulzbacher Center and the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida are hosting a citywide enrollment fair, the second in a series of events featuring the newly-formed health care coverage partnership between Mayor Alvin Brown and community health groups.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The City of Jacksonville Solid Waste Division is hosting a free household hazardous waste and electronic waste collection event in Jacksonville Beach this Saturday for Duval County residents. Due to popular demand, a second collection day in February was added to the schedule.

Florida Missing Adults Day
