Laura Boeckman joined the Office of General Counsel in October 2020.  Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Attorney Boeckman was the North Florida Bureau Chief for the Consumer Protection Division of the Florida Office of the Attorney General.  She investigated violations of the Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Florida's price gouging statute, and other consumer protection statutes.  Prior to the Attorney General, she supervised the Consumer Law Clinic at Florida Coastal School of Law where she also served as the Judicial Externship Supervisor.  Before becoming a professor, Attorney Boeckman worked as a staff attorney at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid representing low-income clients in the areas of consumer law, mortgage foreclosures, bankruptcy, debt collection, and credit reporting errors and counseled clients on alternatives to mortgage foreclosure.  She began her legal career clerking for the Honorable Harvey E. Schlesinger in the Middle District of Florida.

Ms. Boeckman received her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary's College, magna cum laude, in 1996.  She obtained her Juris Doctor degree and her Master's in Public Affairs from Indiana University School of Law -- Bloomington, cum laude in 2001.

Ms. Boeckman is a member of the Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar Association, American Bar Association, Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, Chester Bedell Inn of Court, First District Appellate Inn of Court and is admitted to the Middle District of Florida.
