“Public safety is a top priority in my administration,” said Mayor Curry. “This includes efforts that prepare the city and citizens for emergencies such as hurricanes and tropical storms. We have an outstanding team of people committed to working together to monitor and respond to any unexpected needs and issues created by the storm conditions. I strongly urge Jacksonville citizens to do the same by updating emergency kits and plans.”
 
The National Weather Service anticipates Tropical Storm Colin, described as “disorganized” and “winter-like”, will bring up to 3 to 5 inches of heavy rainfall throughout northeast Florida tonight. Winds, ranging from 40 to 60 mph, are expected, generating flood watch warnings and possible isolated tornadoes. Waves of thunderstorms are expected to begin at 6 p.m. and clear out by 12 p.m. tomorrow. As conditions are subject to change, citizens are encouraged to prepare and plan ahead based on their needs and circumstances.
