Erin Mason joined the Office of General Counsel in February 2023.  Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Mason was an Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit from September 2018 to February 2023. Ms. Mason represented defendants who were charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies punishable by life in prison. Ms. Mason tried numerous jury trials. In July 2021, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers recognized Ms. Mason and awarded her with the prestigious James T. Miller Award for “exemplifying the character, competency, dedication and humility to the enhancement of the proper administration of criminal justice for which Jim Miller was known”. 

Prior to joining the legal community, Ms. Mason was a social worker. Working in the dependency system, she advocated for children who were abused, abandoned, and neglected. Ms. Mason worked for the lead community-based care agency in South Florida where she linked families and children with services that would help them achieve permanency. In addition to working with individual families, she was a quality assurance manager and licensed foster and group homes.  Ms. Mason has dedicated her career to public service. 

Ms. Mason is a member of the Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.
