Celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela Celebration Event

August 21, 2014 - August 21, 2014 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront
225 East Coastline Drive
Jacksonville, Florida 32202
The City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Sister Cities Association (JSCA) will celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela by sponsoring a fundraising banquet in support of health programs for the citizens of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in South Africa. The Honorable Benson Fihla of Nelson Mandela Bay Minucipality, South Africa will be the keynote speaker for the event.
Jacksonville has been twinned with Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM), South Africa since 2000, and is the only city in the United States to share a Sister City relationship with NMBM.

In October 2004, a JSCA outbound delegation delivered wheelchairs to 240 disabled Municipality citizens, including children. From 2009 to 2013, JSCA administered a grant from the Gates Foundation to aid in the purchase of a Mobile Medical Clinic and the renovation of several elementary schools’ lavatories. A portion of the ticket price will be used to purchase medicines and supplies for the Mobile Clinic and help continue JSCA’s humanitarian aid efforts to the region.

To purchase tickets or for further information, please visit www.jsca.org or email jsca@coj.net

Cost: $75 per person
