Lori Boyer Elected Official of the Year

City Council President Named Elected Official of the Year by Northside Business Leaders

September 20, 2016
Jacksonville City Council President Lori Boyer was named “Elected Official of the Year” by Northside Business Leaders, Inc. at the organization’s annual awards banquet last week.
Boyer was recognized for her leadership and service as head of a special committee of City Council on Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) tasked with reviewing outstanding CIP projects. The committee’s yearlong efforts discovered hundreds of completed CIP projects that were never closed. This resulted in finding approximately $50 million in unused funding.

“Finding these funds gave us an opportunity to move some of our current CIP projects forward without incurring additional debt,” said Council President Boyer. “This improves the City’s financial standing and credit rating, which is a tremendous benefit for Jacksonville and its citizens.”

To receive this recognition, elected officials must be based in Duval County and have contributed to an effort that has benefited the city. Nominees are selected and considered by the members of the Northside Business Leaders board of directors.

Council President Boyer received a plaque as the organization presented additional awards and swore in new officers at the annual event, which was held at the Crowne Plaza Airport.
