Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business Vendor Spotlight

February 23, 2023

Meet David Moorefield, owner of DAK Resources, Inc.! Please read about his business and experience in the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) Program.

David MoorefieldBusiness Bio:
“Like with all veterans who are returning home, we ask ourselves what is next.  For me, I started out as a subject matter expert for small business based in Charlotte North Carolina who was teamed up with a large DoD contractor for a project in Jacksonville, Florida. During this employment, I went to my boss Scott Russell and asked him if he would assist me in setting up a business in Jacksonville putting veterans and their family members to work first, and all others second. So, on December 1st, 2007 we opened our doors.”

JSEB Vendor experience:
“I find the Jacksonville Small Emerging Business program was is a very helpful program to a small business owner. The program offers subject matter experts and training in many functions of the business. Some of the training takes place at the Florida State College downtown campus. While under the JSEB some of the training is provided at no cost to the business owner. One of the Best benefits of JSEB is the ability to network with other businesses ranging from small, medium and large. This open doors for businesses to team with a larger company to compete for contracts for the City of Jacksonville. Where can you go to get hands on training like this while growing your business?”

“My past performance was with Jacksonville Electric Authority and a teammate with Randstad. Currently, I am working with BroadLeaf / Masonite door manufacturer who has taken us to 28 different sites throughout the United States providing personnel. Also, we are working with KBR as a government DoD contractor supporting the Navy and Marine Corps with new computer systems, and who has taken us to 8 different primary sites throughout the United States providing personnel. Additionally, we are working with KBR supporting the Marine Corps at Blount Island.  Lastly, we are also working with Interline Brand / Home Depot providing security for their executive center and their distribution centers.“

“One of  our best achievements that we’ve reached in our business is becoming a Prime DoD contractor for the second time! We are elated to have the opportunity to be providing services to the U.S. Air Force by supporting vehicle maintenance for their garrison and tactical vehicles. We were awarded a $4 million dollar contract!  Furthermore, in July 2019  DAK resources took second place for the Top 50 fastest growing private companies in the Northern Florida.”
