The program, in partnership with CareerSource and the United Way of Northeast Florida, offers youth ages 16 to 21 work experience and mentorship. Participants gain an increased understanding and knowledge of the work environment, employer expectations and personal responsibility through a six to eight week work period.

In 2015, the Mayor's Summer Jobs Program saw its largest participation in 10 years with almost 900 students finding summer employment. Goals for the 2016 program include building greater relationships in the business community, providing access to more jobs for youth, enhancing job readiness training, and expanding efforts to empower youth in the workplace.
