MAVD Tax Advisor Assists Vets With Tax Refunds

August 20, 2018
Are you a military veteran who received a letter from the Department of Defense stating that you are eligible for a tax refund?
The Department of Defense recently notified numerous NE Florida Veterans (as well as 130,000 others nationwide) that they were eligible for a refund on taxes mistakenly taken out of their Disability Severance Payment.

The City of Jacksonville's Military and Veteran Affairs Department has tax advisors ready and able to assist veterans with filing the necessary refund form. Resident MAVD tax advisor John Games recently submitted the first refund form for an Army veteran who will receive nearly $2,000 in taxes that should have never been withheld.

The City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department can assist you too!

Affected veterans can file a claim with the Internal Revenue Service to receive a refund by making an appointment with Jon Games at (904) 630-3405.  Be sure to bring a copy of the Department of Defense notice to the appointment.
