Mayor Deegan Unveils Final Transition Report

November 16, 2023
Mayor Donna Deegan and her administration, along with her Transition Committee Co-Chairs, have released their final Transition Report on the city’s newly revamped website. You can read and download the report at https://www.jacksonville.gov/transitionreport.

Mayor Deegan announced her Transition Committees back in June and tasked them with developing policies that move forward the vision of a healthy, safe, resilient, inclusive, and innovative city that works for all of us. These Transition Committees focused on infrastructure; health; economic development; public safety; arts, culture, and entertainment; constituency and community outreach; and military and veterans affairs.

After reviewing the challenges our city faces - and the opportunities available to address them - the Transition Committees identified policy solutions that would enable all citizens to have a good quality of life. The Transition Report is a compilation of their findings.

“I want to thank our transition team leadership as well as the many committee and subcommittee chairs and co-chairs who led this process,” said Mayor Deegan. I’m also grateful for the hundreds of committee members, subject matter experts, and citizens who gave input. The recommendations in this report have been a true community-wide effort, and I look forward to moving our shared priorities forward.”

Mayor Deegan and her team are already putting many of these recommendations into practice. The 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan includes infrastructure projects that make good on the broken promises of consolidation while ensuring smart, resilient development as Jacksonville grows. And, the 2023-2024 General Fund Budget is moving the dial on literacy, affordable housing, homelessness, healthcare, small businesses, veterans, arts, culture, and so much more.
