Stay Alert District 10

The City of Jacksonville's Emergency Preparedness Division and Councilmember Brenda Priestly Jackson urge you to stay alert and make sure preparations have been made for the impact of Hurricane Dorian. High winds and heavy rains leading to severe flooding are expected.  If you are a resident of Evacuation Zone A or B, please heed the mandatory evacuation and make your way to the safe homes of family, friends, a hotel or a designated shelter.  You can find out if you are in an Evacuation Zone here. Free Storm Shelter Transportation Service

In anticipation of flooding from Hurricane Dorian, neighbors and constituents of District 10 living in the Ken Knight Drive area and Evacuation Zone A will be provided free transportation service to the Legends Center, a designated City of Jacksonville storm shelter.  The shuttle service will be available at 4:00 p.m. today, Monday, September 2, 2019 at the corner of Ken Knight Drive West and Moncrief Road West.     

Hurrican Dorian - Urgent Update

Mandatory evacuations are in effect for Evacuation Zones A and B, beginning 8:00 a.m., Monday, September 2, 2019. Shelters will begin receiving residents at 10:00 a.m. Please see the list of Active Open Shelters.

Special Medical Needs services are available for residents who are medically dependent on electricity (i.e. electricity needed for life-supporting equipment), oxygen, or individuals with physical, medical, cognitive impairment, or sensory disabilities who may require basic assistance from medical professionals. Sandless, water activated sandbags are available for purchase through the American Red Cross.
Sandbags and sand can be purchased locally at Home Depot, and Lowe's.
Advance online purchase with ship-to-store or home delivery apply for the American Red Cross and Home Depot.
