About JHRC Outreach
JHRC's Education and Community Outreach unit develops and coordinates programs within the agency which help:
- Promote mutual understanding and respect among all economic, social, racial and ethnic groups
- Facilitate community-wide conversations on issues of race and ethnicity using a dialogue methodology and the Study Circles process
- Promote public awareness and educational forums that foster greater appreciation of similarities and differences
- Partner with other community organizations to promote harmony among diverse groups of people
Throughout the year JHRC subject matter experts (SMEs) and management visit schools, businesses, and organizations to share the role of the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission and to ensure compliance to applicable laws and ordinances in the areas of employment, housing and public accommodations. In addition, the commission works to join build relationships with other commissions, key leaders, and organizations to develop strategies which support the efforts of the City in building a better community to live, work, and grow together.
