Join us in congratulating Tony Lopez on his confirmation as the new Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Most recently, Tony served as the Director of Community and Leisure Services for the Town of Miami Lakes in northwest Miami - Dade County. In addition to being a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive with more than 10 years of experience in the field with seven as a director, Tony also has extensive knowledge of city management best practices including strategic planning, procurement practices, Incident Management structures and special events. And as if all that weren't enough, he also served as an adjunct professor at Florida International University and St. Thomas University.

Tony has a B.B.A. in Sports Administration and an M.S. in Parks and Recreation Management. He is a state and national award recipient recognized by the National Recreation and Parks Association, Florida Recreation and Park Association and American Parks and Recreation Society as an innovative leader in the profession.  Our department is excited to have him at the helm.
