Mental Health Services

The Social Services Division provides matching dollars for mental health agencies/services that are primarily funded by the Circuit 4, Department of Children and Families (DCF), Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) program office. DCF is designated as the 'Mental Health Authority of Florida' and local SAMH offices contract for mental health and substance abuse services, provide technical assistance and monitor services. The Circuit 4 SAMH office is located at 5920 Arlington Expressway, telephone (904) 485-9583.

Information on court-ordered 'Involuntary Examination' covered by Chapter 394, Florida Statutes, commonly referred to as the 'Baker Act,' may be obtained by calling the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Mental Health Division, at (904) 255-1986.

Mental Health Resource Center (MHRC)

Services provided: Comprehensive mental health services including emergency evaluation and crisis stabilization for children and adults, case management, social rehabilitation, medication management and other outpatient services for persons living in Duval County east of the St. Johns River including the beaches. MHRC also operates programs for the homeless and two Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT)Teams.

Mental Health Resource Center North (NHRC North)

Services provided: Comprehensive mental health services including emergency evaluation and crisis stabilization for adults, case management, social rehabilitation, medication management and other outpatient services for persons living in Duval County west of the St. Johns River. MHCJ also provides jail-based diversion for persons under arrest and linkage to community-based services.

Also under the administration of River Region Human Services are two Peer staffed Drop-In Centers for persons with mental health or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Locations include: Springfield Center, 157 E. 8th St., (904) 359-2511 and the Riverhouse, 5930 Arlington Expressway (behind the Department of Children and Families), (904) 726-0026.
