Doyle Carter Sworn-In as District 12 Council Member

At a brief ceremony immediately preceding the March 24th meeting of the City Council, Doyle Carter was sworn-in as the representative for District 12.  The oath of office was administered by Fourth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Donald Moran.  Council Member Carter’s wife Trish held the family bible, while daughter Heather and son DJ looked on.

City Council President Webb Appoints Ad Hoc Committee to Research Budget Savings Ideas

Jacksonville City Council President Jack Webb today announced the appointment of an Ad Hoc Committee for FY11-12 Budget Savings Review.  The three member committee comprised of Council members Stephen C. Joost, Chair, William H. Bishop and Warren A. Jones was tasked with preparing a set of recommendations for possible budget saving strategies to be considered by the Mayor and Finance Committee during the upcoming budget preparation process.

City Council Meeting Rescheduled

In accordance with Ordinance 2011-72-E, the second City Council meeting in the month of March 2011, has been rescheduled to March 24, 2011, due to the date of the First Consolidated Government Election.

City Council Members Jones and Corrigan Join Riverside Avondale Preservation, Inc. (RAP) for Stockton Street Town Center Project Groundbreaking Ceremony

Jacksonville City Council members Warren Jones and Michael Corrigan today joined members of the City of Jacksonville’s Housing and Neighborhoods and Public Works Departments, the JEA and Grimes Contracting, Inc. at a ground breaking ceremony for the Stockton Street Town Center project.

Speciality License Plate to Support St. Johns River Programs

A specialty license plate dedicated to the St. Johns River will be available for purchase at local tax collectors offices in early December. The specialty license plates cost $25 annually above the standard Florida license plate, and the non-profit organization St. Johns River Alliance, Inc., will receive funding from the proceeds. The organization will also administer grants to other qualifying organizations.
