Employee Services Department

Most non-civil service jobs are posted on our website, which is updated regularly. For a part-time positions with the library contact the branch where you would like to work.

Greater flexibility exists in the application and selection procedures for non-civil service positions. It is important to read job announcements very closely and follow all application instructions. Depending on its nature, a job may require an online application, while others require that resumes be forwarded directly to the department. In some cases, both an online application and a resume are required. To be considered, follow the specific instructions in the text of the advertisement or job posting.

The hiring manager will review applications and/or resumes and contact candidates to conduct interviews. It is important to note that there may be a large volume of applicants, and it may not be feasible for a hiring manager to interview each one. Rather, the manager will interview those candidates who most closely match the preferred skills and abilities required of the specific job. The candidate who best meets the requirements of the department will be offered employment. Drug screens and criminal background checks are performed at this time.

Eligibility lists are not created for non-civil service jobs. Depending upon departmental needs, hiring managers often review existing applications when new openings occur within a short period of time. This is done on a case-by-case basis and there is no obligation to do so.
